Between mid-June and early July 1947, rancher W.W. "Mac" Brazel found strange debris on his property in Lincoln County, New Mexico, approximately 75 miles north of Roswell. Also, several "flying disc" and "flying saucer" stories were circulated at that time in the national. Brazel believed the debris could be the remains of an alien spaceship. He brought some of the material to Sheriff George Wilcox of Roswell.
