Perspectives on the World Christian Movement: A Reader presents a rich collection of readings that explore the biblical, historical, cultural, and strategic dimensions of world evangelization.

Contributions from more than 150 mission scholars and practitioners portray the unfolding story of the global Christian movement: its roots, its challenges, and its remarkable potential for the future. Every article offers practical wisdom enabling Christians to labor together with bold, biblical hope to see Christ named and followed among all peoples of the earth.
The fifth edition brings fresh voices and dozens of new contributions, reflecting the rapidly expanding network of national study programs that use Perspectives to mobilize the global church to fulfill God's mission. Each year more than 10,000 students--in nearly 40 countries and 9 languages--participate in Perspectives courses, discovering their role in God's story and joining his global purpose.

Author Biography

Steven C. Hawthorne's mission journey began at Urbana '76, where John Stott and Ralph Winter shaped his vision for global evangelization. While earning his master's at Fuller Seminary, he copyedited the first Perspectives reader with Winter and later served as executive editor of World Christian magazine. He launched research teams to identify unreached peoples in major world cities and continued this work with Caleb Project. In 2013, he completed a PhD in biblical mission theology at Fuller. Today, he directs WayMakers, a ministry mobilizing prayer for Christ's glory, writing and speaking to ignite passion for God's global purposes.

Pam Arlund holds a BA from The George Washington University and an MA and PhD in linguistics from the University of Texas at Arlington. After attending Urbana as a student leader with InterVarsity, she spent ten years as a church planter and Bible translator in Central Asia, witnessing the first believers among a small people group. For more than fifteen years, she has taught Perspectives courses globally and serves with All Nations International and the Society of the Good Shepherd. Author of scholarly works and Stick Figures Save the World, she equips disciples worldwide. She lives in Kansas City, Missouri.
