Hopefully, the memoir would appeal to those who have become fans of the movie and would like to be informed about the difficulties in the making of the film as well as learning what the experience is to work with a visionary filmmaker at the height of his powers. Many crewmembers on The Abyss who have read an early draft have appreciated the accuracy and detail of the book. All have mentioned it was a walk into the past and the time when it took place.
