In August 2023, I had the privilege of starting our Wednesday night Bible study group on a series of sermons in the book of Judges. During my study of the book, I became captivated by God's grace found in the pages of this book. The Israelites were without a leader, lacked unity, and began to live in rebellion against God, the same God who rescued them out of Egypt and gave them the Promised Land, against all odds! But God continued to pursue His people. Lots of judges were put in position in different times, places, and seasons to accomplish God's purposes. All the while, there is a dark cloud over Israel. Something else is needed - or may I say, Someone else is needed!

The book of Judges gives us a longing for Jesus - the great Judge, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In my study of Judges, I tried to find Jesus on every page. As a follower of Jesus, I believe that the entire Bible is about Jesus, as Jesus proclaimed in John 5. So, as you pick up this book, let's look for Jesus together in this study. I pray that this book will bless you as you seek to know Jesus better. I pray that you will recognize God's pursuit for you right where you are. He is chasing you with His grace! This book is a product of hard work, prayer, and an act of obedience to the Lord. I believe the Lord wants me to write, and this is my very first book to be published. Thanks for taking the effort to read this book. I pray this experience will change your life. Whether you are a pastor preparing to preach through this book or a follower of Jesus wanting to be acquainted with the book of Judges, I pray more happens with this book that just gaining more information. I pray that you will be transformed into the image of Jesus. Two notes about this book. First, I am not a Hebrew scholar. I appreciate those who are experts in biblical languages and learn much from them. I am still trying to master the English language, so if you are looking for Hebrew word studies in this book, you might be disappointed! Second, unless otherwise noted, all Scripture passages will be from the New American Standard 1995 edition. I encourage you to read this book with an open Bible next to you, but I have included a majority of the book of Judges within these pages. As we begin this journey together, I want to give you what I give to my lovely congregation at First Baptist Church in Trumann, AR every Sunday before we depart - "I am being sent with the presence and power of God to accomplish the purposes of God."
