by Jonathan Alan Ginn (Author), James M. Jr. Hamilton (Foreword by)

In Luke 24, the risen Lord taught his disciples from all the Scriptures that the Christ must suffer and rise on the third day. During this illuminating crash course on Old Testament messianic fulfillment, Jesus included, among other things, a lesson from the book of Psalms. One must ask, however, whether the Psalter merely anticipates Christ in an intermittent way--with a few sporadic psalms, here and there, that look ahead to the Messiah--or, whether there might be an underlying Christocentric logic coursing through the whole of Israel's hymnal? In Everlasting is His Steadfast Love, Jonathan Alan Ginn maintains that the entire Psalter--and particularly the fifth and final book (Pss 107-150)--has been purposefully arranged as a unity to point readers ahead to a coming Messianic King from David's line. By devoting close attention to the structural contours of the canonical text, Ginn examines Psalms 107-150 within their surrounding literary context, demonstrating that there is, indeed, a divinely-inspired, editor-intended messianic macrostructure organically embedded within climactic Book 5 of the Psalms. This book is Ginn's invitation both to discover the shape of the story that the Psalter sings as well as to delight in its messianic melody.
